With new shows and stories being told, 2021 Topps Star Wars Masterwork continues to give the franchise’s ever expanding universe high-end coverage. The annual premium release keeps with its tradition of delivering ample signatures and a variety of other luxury elements. Hobby boxes, are made up of four single-pack mini boxes, deliver four autographs and two additional hits. Every pack also has an insert, a parallel and two base cards.
2021 Topps Star Wars Masterwork Checklist Overview
The base set has 100 cards done on thick card stock, keeping it in line with previous Masterwork sets. It’s a character-driven checklist including some droids and creatures.
Parallels come in a number of levels:
- Blue
- Green – /99
- Purple – /50
- Red – /25
- Orange – /10
- Black – /5
- Gold – 1/1
- Printing Plates – 1/1
Autographs
On-card signatures are featured on at least some of Masterwork’s main autographs. Signers cover all three trilogies, spin-off films as well as recent additions to the Star Wars Universe, The Mandalorian and The Bad Batch.
Parallels include Blue Foil (/99), Rainbow Foil (/50), Canvas (/25), Wood (/10), Silver Frame (/5), Printing Plates (1/1) and Gold Frame (1/1).
Masterwork has some multi-signature inserts as well. Dual Autograph are numbered to 50 and have additional Canvas (/25), Wood (/10), Black (/5) and Gold (1/1) versions.
Triple Autographs have 25 copies each as well as Wood (/10), Black (/5) and Gold (1/1) parallels.
Quad Autograph book cards are among the scarcest cards in the product with just a pair of copies each. There’s also a one-of-a-kind Galactic Autograph Book that has 20 total signers.
Autographed Pen Relics return for another year. In addition to the signature, these have a piece of a pen used during the actor’s signing.
Additional Inserts
2021 Topps Star Wars Masterwork has four additional hit-style insert sets.
Jumbo Sourced Fabric Costume Relics take a memorabilia approach. These have Purple (/25), Orange (/10), Black (/5) and Gold (1/1).
Commemorative medallions are back, this time with a character focus. There’s also a new batch of Postage Stamp cards. For both of these there are Green (/99), Purple (/50), Orange (/10), Black (/5) and Gold (1/1) versions.
Sketch cards return as well. Besides traditional pieces of mini artwork, there are Sketch Card Books, Panoramic Sketch Cards and Triptych Sketch Cards.
Finally, there are three more regular insert sets.
Out of the Box brings Star Wars toys to cards. There’s also Lucasfilm 50th Anniversary and Welcome to the Dark Side.
All three of these sets have Rainbow Foil (/299), Canvas (/25), Wood (/10), Metal (/5), Printing Plates (1/1) and Gold Metal (1/1) parallels.
