2020-21 Topps Merlin UEFA Champions League Soccer waves the magical wand of nostalgia for a modern chromium release. Bringing back a brand that’s likely familiar to longtime European collectors,
the product also resurrects a 25-year-old design only with a Chrome twist.
Hobby boxes promise one autograph plus lots of inserts and Refractors.
2020-21 Topps Merlin UEFA Champions League Checklist Details
The base set is a modest 100 cards covering both the UEFA Champions and Europa Leagues. The design might be one from the past, but it’s not a card set. Rather, it finds its roots in the 1996 Merlin Premier League stickers.
Here, it’s chromium so that means Refractors — lots of them. As far as what’s available in hobby packs, the rainbow breaks down to include:

Autographs and Other Inserts
Chrome Autographs make up the majority of the signature content in 2020-21 Topps Merlin UEFA Champions League. Not only does that mean ink, but more Refractors. Autographs come with additional Speckle Refractors (/150), Mojo Refractors (/99), Blue Refractors (/75), Gold Refractors (/50), Orange Refractors (/25), Red Refractors (/10) and Superfractors (1/1).
The checklist also has three additional insert sets.
U23 Stars, which land 1:6 hobby packs, hone in on young players with promising futures. Wizards of the Pitch (1:9) is veteran-focused. Finally, there’s Ageless Alchemy (1:18), which has a mix of stars from today as well as some from the past.
All three have four levels of parallels: Gold Refractors (/50), Orange Refractors (/25), Red Refractors (/10) and Superfractors (1/1). Some cards also have autographs.
