2020-21 Upper Deck Artifacts Hockey is the first set of the season to really showcase autographs and memorabilia cards. It’s not the most high-end of sets, but it’s certainly more so than the first couple of 2020-21 sets —MVP and O-Pee-Chee.


Among the contents in every hobby box are three total autographs, memorabilia cards or Aurum inserts that can be used for the product’s Bounty program.

2020-21 Upper Deck Artifacts Hockey Base Set Basics


The 2020-21 Artifacts Hockey base set has 220 total cards that break down into several subsets. In addition to the main section of 100 veterans, there are subsets for Stars (/699), Legends (/599) and Rookies (/999).


Parallels come in a lot of forms including different combinations of colors, autographs and memorabilia. Here’s a breakdown for each:

2020-21 Upper Deck Artifacts Rookie Redemptions


Yes, Artifacts has Rookie Cards included in packs. However, those cards are limited to holdovers of late debuts from 2019-20. Enter, the Rookie Redemption.






Upper Deck has been including these in Artifacts for several years. Landing 1:9 hobby packs, they’re good for members of the 2020-21 rookie class. Redemptions also have Emerald parallels, which are only in hobby packs at a rate of 1:78 packs.


Six top players also have tough SP Photo Variant versions (1:640). SPs have hobby-exclusive Emerald and Autograph parallels, both landing 1:2,059 packs.


Rookie Redemption Autographs can be found for 18 players. These have three levels of rarity: Tier 1 (#I-VI) – 1:1,440, Tier 2 (#VII-XII) – 1:720 and Tier 3 (XIII-XVIII)- 1:360.


Finally, there are several memorabilia parallels for the top six Rookie Redemptions:

All Rookie Redemption autographs and memorabilia versions are only available in hobby packs.

Autographs and Memorabilia Cards


Not all autographs in 2020-21 Upper Deck Artifacts Hockey have on-card signatures, but there are several parts of the checklist that do. Signature Apparel (/36 or less) is one of them, combining ink with a premium memorabilia piece. Other hard-signed sets include Admirable Impressions (/24), Esteemed Endorsements (/28), Honoured Members Signatures (/27), and Honoured Hopefuls Signatures (/27).






Additional autograph inserts include Top 12 Rookie Signatures (1:800), Top 12 Rookie Signatures 2019-20 Update (1:800), Lord Stanley’s Legacy Signatures (1:480), Lord Stanley’s Legacy Signatures Premium (/10), Auto Facts (1:40) and 2010-11 Retro Auto Facts (/49 or less).


Treasured Swatches makes its debut here, landing 1:160 hobby packs. Parallels include dual jersey autographs (/25 or less) and jersey/patch autographs (/5).






Arena Artifacts return. But they don’t have the traditional jerseys and sticks found in most memorabilia sets. Instead, they use pieces from Maple Leaf Gardens. Each card has 31 copies, a nod to the year the arena opened its doors (1931).


Year One Sweaters (1:60) look back on the 2019-20 rookie class. Swatches in these cards are from jerseys worn in games from their rookie season, not photo shoots. Premium parallels have 25 copies each.


More memorabilia can be found in NHL Remnants Jersey (1:24), Lord Stanley’s Legacy Relics (1:160), Tundra Teammates Duos (/249), Tundra Teammates Quad (/99), and Threads of Time (1:80). Premium versions are available for each in limited numbers as well.


The vast majority of autograph and memorabilia inserts in 2020-21 Upper Deck Artifacts Hockey are hobby-exclusives. Auto Facts and NHL Remnants are the only ones available in retail packs.

Aurum Bounty


Aurum inserts are the focus of the 2020-21 Upper Deck Artifacts Hockey Bounty program. As with past Bounty chases, these reward collectors who build the entire 48-card set. The checklist is broken down into five levels of rarity:

  • Base Aurum – 1:21
  • Holdover Rookies Tier 1 – 1:144
  • Holdover Rookies Tier 2 – 1L320
  • Veteran All-Stars – 1:480
  • Legends – 1:640







All Aurum cards are hobby exclusives.


Every collector who completes the set and enters it into the Upper Deck Bounty website receives a pair of Retro Rookie Bounty Achievement cards.


Additional cards are available to a small number of collectors who finish the Aurum set quickly. The first 25 get a special Bounty Achievement set consisting of 12 cards. The first ten also get an exclusive autograph. On top of those, the three fastest finishers also receive a Bounty Achievement Dual Autograph.


They may not be part of the Bounty program, but there are also Aurum Signatures. Legends, Veterans and Rookies have 13 copies each. Aurum Signatures Duals are numbered to 3.
